When you tithe to your local parish, the parish is required to give a portion to the Diocese for its use. This portion is considered a tax and may range from 9% to 23%. These funds are essentially controlled by the Bishop. These funds should be used for normal operating expenses of the Diocese and its offices.
Unfortunately, your contribution to the church could be used to support things that are not in accordance with our Catholic Faith (such lawsuits, settlements, etc.). This can be prevented and stopped.
When you give to the Laity in Unity Foundation, your funds will pay for direct parish expenses and will not be controlled by the Bishop.
The collection and distribution of funds will be fully transparent to all board members.
